Welcome to FilmCentrix, an American Film Archive and More!

FilmCentrix is an independent American Film archive established in 2016, but its film roots are anchored heavily into the reaches of exploitation cinema. Located in rural New Jersey in a most inconspicuous location, FilmCentrix houses hundreds of film negatives, mint lab prints, theatrical prints and trailers in all formats, including 8mm, 16mm, 35mm. The content of the film archive ranges from all types of American cinema, from industrials and clips, to cartoons and classic commercials, to feature films, with many in pristine condition. With over 3000 square feet and 16 foot ceilings, the climate controlled space is meticulously kept.

Owned and operated by film collector and archivist, Steven Morowitz, FilmCentrix is focused mainly on exploitation cinema. We have a hands on approach toward preservation and restoration and that includes all duties of an active film archive. FilmCentrix is equally dedicated to releasing definitive editions of lost and hard to find films on DVD and Blu Ray. With a boutique style approach toward releasing media, FilmCentrix has several wonderful packages planned for release on home video.

In addition to operating as a film archive, FilmCentrix is also heavily involved in the actual film restoration process, and recently completed the construction of a brand new film lab, which is conveniently attached to the archive. With the hopes of acquiring their own film scanner, FilmCentrix has already purchased lab equipment such as a Lipsner-Smith Ultrasonic Film Cleaner and Magna-tech Optical/Mag Reader for 16/35mm. Digital restoration software includes a Davinci Software Grading Station, as well as Digital Vision’s, Pheonix Software for auto and manual restoration.

With new acquisitions on the horizon and many lost classics yet to be discovered in the archive, FilmCentrix looks forward to each challenge, one film at a time!
